Colin is different from Lee and the other peas. But that doesn't stop friendship! This sweet and simple book shows the strength that can be found in differences. The straightforward text and clean illustrations will appeal to young readers, and parents can appreciate the message of celebrating friends who don't look like us.

This story is fun with the carrot and peas drawn as simple shapes. The rectangle carrot becomes a bridge, then a slide for his pea friends.
My toddler was very interested in seeing shapes manipulated like that. It's also a nice story about friendship and being yourself.

A story that embraces difference. Lee the pea celebrates the unique attributes of his friend Colin the carrot. Even though Colin cannot roll like the peas, he can be "a fantastic bridge, and a great slide." Colin is special in his own way. Perfect to share with preschool and kindergarten readers.

I love clean, simple stories like that that tell a much bigger story. It is sweet, a little silly, and of course contains a great lesson about friendship and differences. I also thought it was cool that the illustrations were collaged from grocery store bags! Give this one a read.

Colin, a carrot, can't do everything a pea can do, but that doesn't mean he can't be good at other things. Very short, simple read aloud for a preschool audience.

Cute picture book about appreciating the differences in our friends. Good example of the 6 by 6 skill Look for Letters (and Shapes!) Everywhere.
