Blah, the only good thing parts were the cg explosions.

Predictable movie. I fast forwarded through it.

A technology fix for climate change gets weaponized. Can the inventor find the flaws and also the high-level betrayer? A little more plot and a little less flashy special effects would have improved this film, but I'm glad to see the issue of climate change addressed, even if it's a miraculous technology fix.

Great as a single viewing summer popcorn type movie. Great action and premise, and some interesting casting choices, especially Gerard Butler (from Olympus Has Fallen) and Andy Garcia as a US president (!!). Of course, these action adventure yarns strain credibility...but you're not supposed to think about them too much, just enjoy the ride.

I guess asking for a scientific and realistic world-wide disaster flick was too much to ask for (idealism strikes again). Instead, this movie offered up the all-too-common millennial lack of respect for authority, ridiculous dialogue, laughable over-the-top chase scenes, and insanely implausible environmental disaster sequences (i.e., people freezing instantly due to temperature drops). At least I didn't waste money at the theater.

DRAMA!!!! A constant downpour of dramatic twists and wrinkles, every scene competes with the last in a movie that attempt to out do itself, launches this movie soaring into the heights of the redonkulous-zone. If you appreciate films that are so bad it's good this one will not disappoint, as it refuses to be grounded in any sense of the word and promises to never come back to Earth.

One star if you expect movies to makes sense. Five stars if you appreciate a lack of sensibilities.

I think the critics on IMDB has been especially harsh on this movie with an overall rating of only 5.3. I'd give it about a 6.2 for pure entertainment. Marks will be deducted for less than stellar dialogues, inconsistent acting from some of the characters and not great science. It is a fun movie to watch if you like action and special effects.

This is an action movie, or at least it should be one, centred around science. Good action overall, especially with the special effects. However, I wish they'd just cut all the attempts at drama; it just led to some cheesy lines at th wrong time. If you can overlook these, it's not too bad a movie.

Jim Sturgiss (the younger brother) was a little over the top in his 'anxious' looks. Got a little bit tiring after a while. I don't see why he'd be gasping for air in some of the scenes. The daughter - and there is only one - could not quite nail that role. Is she 13 or is she older. She looked like 13 but she acted like an adult. Either poor directing or over-acting on a young performer. Her lines were not typical of a kid either. Gerald Butler was not convincing as a scientist type. That role could have gone to somebody else who might look a little less 'blue collar'. (Apologies if I'm stereotyping casting a bit.)

The best performer was Abbie Cornish. She's believable in her role. Great actor. I think she'd be getting more dramatic type roles and mentioned at the Oscars some day. Where do they find all these talents in Australia?

My recommendations: watch this movies with friends or a casual family meetups. Not a date or romantic movie for sure.

Very light on science, okay for entertainment... sort of. Except for the eventual stated reason for the disasters, same old stuff, ie, get rid of perceived enemies. Same old outcomes.

I mean, if you just want to watch a quick movie with some decent special effects, this is it. Don't expect anything else though.

Light on scientific logic but still entertaining enough to watch.

Opening narrative:
Everyone was warned but no one listened. A rise in temperature... ocean patterns changed and ice caps melted. They called it extreme weather. They didn't know what "extreme" was. In the year of 2019... hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and droughts unleashed a wave of destruction upon our planet. We didn't just lose towns or beach fronts. We lost entire cities. The East River swallowed Lower Manhattan. A heatwave killed 2 million people in Madrid in just one day. But in that moment facing our own extinction it became clear that no single nation could solve this problem alone. The world came together as one. And we fought back. Scientists from 17 countries, led by the U.S. and China worked tirelessly not as representatives of their nations but of humanity.
A geostorm. Simultaneous catastrophic weather events triggered all over the globe. Once they pass the minimum threshold, the storms will start
causing new storms. Like a chain reaction until they merge together.

Think of it like I'm going on a vacation for a week or two.
-To a place 250 miles straight up? And negative 450 degrees? Some holiday.

I've given you an opportunity, Mr. President. You should take it.
-An opportunity? ...Let him go...It's genocide, Leonard!
You say genocide, I say preemptive strike.
-You've lost your mind!
Tomorrow, the sun will rise, all our enemies will be gone. Wiped away as if
by the hand of God!
-Why would you do this?
Because no one else would. I'm turning the clock back to 1945... when America was a shining city on a hill... not just a bank disguised as a country.
-By playing God?
What the hell is Dutch Boy if not playing God? Ask Max, he knows. Science is all about playing God. Sometimes, God doesn't play so nice.
