A very good juvenile graphic novel about ghosts, family and lots of laundry.

I will never look at my white sheets the same way ever again. This graphic novel featuring a young girl in her laundry business and a ghost boy who befriends her is unlike any I have read before. I am not a big fan of the paranormal, so ghost stories are not my favorite. I did really appreciate the beautiful color palettes Thummler uses to differentiate between the ghost world and the human world. Marjorie is a likable girl and definitely in a very difficult situation. For quite a bit of the book she seemed to be facing one crisis after another. It is a relief to see that the villain Mr. Saubertuck is not unbeatable. I also loved the PE teacher and his family and their encouragement for Marjorie. I will check out the sequel and see how Marjorie's story continues.

This is such a delightful book that tells the story of a young girl who misses her mother and finds comfort in an unexpected friend; and learns that she can handle anything with a little determination. It's so beautifully illustrated and written, perfect for kids or adults. I can't wait for the second book!

What a great read to kick off the spooky season. I enjoyed the parallel stories of a ghost and a girl both finding their way through difficult situations.

The most interesting part about this book was its minor exploration on the idea of wanting to be human again. A solid read with a thoughtful story.

This is a really great book that I think both young readers and adults alike will enjoy. It’s got very stylized art but the art is super detailed at the same time and it creates a great atmosphere that the story thrives in…it all just works. Brenna Thummler (both the artist and writer) really captures the innocence of youth in both childhood and adolescence. She also taps into the difficulties we all face growing up trying to understand the world around us and explores the idea of how sometimes we may also be prematurely forced to integrate into the often mysterious and complex world of adults. Marjorie Glatt has to deal with her mom's sudden death, her dad's depression and the ulterior motives of a selfish adult that’s out to take all that her family has left. Yes there are ghosts in this book but Thummler just works them into the story so seamlessly that it’s not a big deal. This book never reaches for something that it can’t achieve so it never falls short of expectations. It’s just a well written, well drawn book with a good story about how life can change abruptly at any moment and at any age and the many unexpected struggles that we may have to face as a result. This one is definitely worth checking out.

Great book, I love the idea of the sorry, a girl who is very passionate about saving her family's laundry business even when she doesn't even like washing! Fantastic drawings!

Marjorie Glatt is a practical thirteen year old in charge of the family laundry business and Wendell is a ghost with a dangerous need to seek purpose in the forbidden human world. Although it was highly out of the norm, Marjorie and Wendell become friends and they both learn valuable things from each other and give each other support in a crisis. Sheets was a very sweet book about friends, struggle and grief coupled with fantastic illustration and an eye-catching colour scheme.
