I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. I looked forward to reading it every day. So much suspense, twists and turns. It is so well written, especially the main characters. The author had me in the palm of her hands. Rachel is a very interesting character for whom I have no sympathy or pity. Another reviewer here stated this is "a decidedly feminist novel" and that "Rachel is a survivor in a male-dominated world." Totally incorrect. A true feminist does not do what Rachel does, period. I first read DuMaurier's other novel "Rebecca" as a teen and it blew me away. It is one of my favorite books. Why I never read "My Cousin Rachel" before is a puzzlement as I read some of DuMaurier's other novels soon after "Rebecca". I decided to read this book after reading a biography on DuMaurier a few months ago. Am I ever so glad I did. Sheer perfection. It's a great mystery/suspense, not a romance novel.
