I like this old series from the 1980's -- better than some more recent, "cuter" ones. I've checked several of the books. The stories are interesting. I like the kids: their determination, growing maturity, and their love of logic. I like that Penguin printed 2004 Puffin PB editions of many of these books -- and that kcls is buying them. My granddaughter (age 6) can read better than she knows, BUT she's leery of taking on a "thick" book. I mailed Book 1 to her. It has a pretty, new, shiny cover -- and it's really THIN. I'm hoping that when we Skype, she will announce: "Look what I've got! I'm gonna read the whole first chapter to you." "Or the whole book." Or whatever. I'll probably have to call her halfway through on account of bedtime. I liked everything about Book1 except: I wished Eric hadn't left his INFANT brother with Cam -- right outside the bad guys' window --- while he ran to call the cops. Yikes!
