The Voice That Challenged a Nation

Marian Anderson and the Struggle for Equal Rights
Dec 05, 2014
Marian Anderson had sung at the White House and before crowned heads in Europe, but was denied the right to sing at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., because she was black. The protest that was started in reaction put her into the center of the civil rights movement, and helped bring an end to Jim Crow laws. Illus. with photos.
