Miranda July is a writer for the people - all of them, all the time. She writes to human experience even in outlandish situations. While several of her characters are peculiar, to say the least, they are still remarkably relatable. This was a good prequel to The First Bad Man - although I do think her ideas and style are more developed in the novel than these stories.
