This was my first book by Laura Joh Rowland. ‘The Shogun’s Daughter’ was an interesting historical fiction which takes place in feudal Japan; the year 1704. Ironically the book was actually about whodunit! Who killed the Shogun’s daughter? From cover to cover the book reveals the conflict between Sano’s family and that of his arch rival, the cunning Yanagisawa. While not quite the same - made in Japan - intrigue as the master story teller, James Clavell in his epic book ‘Shogun,’ this book was nethertheless very enjoyable and I recommend it to readers 16 and older.
