I had actually never even heard of this book before our teacher assigned a culminating with a series of books as selections that we had to read. I looked this up on Goodreads, and thought "why not?" So I picked it up and I am really glad I did. This is a good sci-fi book with hints of romance that are subtle enough not to make you gag. So what if the world was ending because no one could have any more children? What if this was because all those children died from a disease soon after they were born? Kira, a young intelligent nurse in an internship, struggles to deal with the rising pressure of forcing mandatory childbirth to be lowered to younger women. Alongside that, she works with those in the hospital to deliver babies, only to have them die shortly after. Anyone wonder what she'll do next? 5/5 stars - @Siri of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
