It is a plant- based diet. Differing from vegan insofar ad there is no oil except what is naturally present in food and no processed foods such as meat analogues that have chemically altered ingredients. It is based on whole foods with little or no chemical additives or preservatives. Very low in sugar, using only natural sweeteners and very little of those. Vegan diets can have unhealthy amounts of fats and refined sugar. I agree with "Black Tiger". You should watch "Forks Over Knives" and its sequel, "The Extended Interviews" (to Forks Over Knives). Julieanna Hever explains it well in her book on Plant-based nutrition. She is a registered dietician and nutritionist. There are many books out with scientific studies to support this natural and delicious way of eating.
