The Reckoners Trilogy has never been better. The author's characters are clearly, colorfully depicted, their relationships likewise stenciled, the effect being masterful drama and rather likely to elicit one or two squees and tears, which culminates in a dramatic conclusion. I took a leisurely fifteen minutes to rant and rave about that conclusion. Brilliant writing, heartfelt emotion, and amazing action makes this into a frightfully good novel.
