SPOILER ALERTS AHEAD: Ok, so like many other commentators I sincerely doubt this was written by a teenage girl. It's a good book even though the motives of the author are abundantly visible: It's a scare tactic book disguised as a found diary to petrify school aged kids from doing drugs. Which is totally fine. By all means, there's nothing wrong with that. However there's part where there's a foot note saying pats of the diary were kept on scraps of paper or paper bags when the main character was going through 1 of her hardest highs- and trust me. I have known a LOT of abusers in my lifetime and if you're wearing the same clothes for days with an empty stomach looking for a next hit -updating your diary is the last thing on your mind. That part just didn't seem realistic to me. Then whats up with the foot note at the end? the last diary entry this girl was happy and clean and then it's like " ok and also she died 3 weeks later and no one knows so yeah stay off drugs. " i think the author should have given the reader a little more credit to get that message from the book without adding that unnecessarily depressing extra. ANYWAY- since im sure we all know the girl is fictional its my preference to imagine she lived a nice sober life after.
