In contrast to those who might consider this book for "fertilizer value", I actually read it. It was an enjoyable look at some of the personalities & events surrounding the Declaration of Independence. If you are hesitant due to Senator Lee's political party or philosophy, don't be worried. His emphasis (to generalize) is: a lot of colonists felt that their traditional rights were being denied because they were across the Atlantic from the home country, and they had to do something about that. This is not a radical historical viewpoint. If you're a fan of King George III denying things (like free trade, representative government, and functioning courts) to colonists ... well, sorry buddy, but you lost the Revolutionary War. If you can't bear to read this fine book, then spend some time reviewing the Declaration at least. I recommend Senator Lee's book to all Americans.
