Gone To The Woods: Surviving a Lost Childhood by Gary Paulsen (2021). As a memoir this book will likely be for those 13 and older. I have loved and lost myself in many of Gary Paulsen’s great books such as: Hatchet, Dogsong, The River, Harris and Me, Woodsong, Sarny and Nightjohn. So, reading Paulsen’s memoir, Gone To The Woods: Surviving a Lost Childhood, really helps to think about and appreciate Paulsen’s unique accomplishments as a writer consistently able to capture the interest and imagination of readers young and old. Moreover, it helps to come closer to understanding his developmental journey as a person and storyteller. If you are a fan of his work - this is a must read. Truly, this book is a treasure for those that have read and loved any or many of his books.
