This is a powerful and necessary book! The author's notes alone make it worth the read. You don't have to have read Dear Martin first to follow the story. This novel follows Quan, who is actively trying to rise above his current trajectory, despite having the odds stacked against him. Topics covered include systematic racism, the American justice system and how it impacts African-American boys, and shows us how education and allies can make all the difference in the world.
